In Brief: BankBoston Beefs Up Global Trade Team

BankBoston announced that it is broadening the capabilities of its London-based Global Trade team.

In addition to serving customers in the United States and Europe, the team plans to leverage BankBoston's extensive Latin American presence to provide trade services and finance to companies trading between the two continents.

The London-based team will also be expanding its other structured trade finance capabilities, including government export promotion programs, import financing, and pre-shipment financing in Latin America.

To support this expansion Global Trade hired Jason Barrass and Nigel Bottrill.

Mr. Barrass ran Fuji Bank's London trade desk. He will be responsible for asset distribution, strategy, and promoting the bank's trade finance capabilities, particularly in Latin America.

Mr. Bottrill was a business development manager with Natwest Bank in London. He will be responsible for the marketing to European and American corporations of trade finance products ranging from letters of credit to counterparty finance.
