In Brief: GDR Denominated In Euros, U.S. Dollars

Mounting enthusiasm in global capital markets for the euro, which in January will become a common currency for 11 European countries, prompted Croatia's largest bank to list the first global depository receipt denominated in both U.S. dollars and euros last week.

Bankers Trust Corp.'s Depository Receipts Group in London listed the GDR, and Salomon Smith Barney acted as an agent. The Croatian bank, Zabrebacka banka, had also listed the first euro-denominated depository receipt with Bankers Trust in September.
