Amex Veteran Joins Hypercom Board

Hypercom Corp. said veteran payment services company executive John C. Elliott has joined its board, increasing the number of directors to seven.

Mr. Elliott, an independent consultant, was most recently executive vice president of American Express Travel Related Services Co., with international card-related responsibilities.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Elliott was chairman and chief executive officer of Card Establishment Services, the merchant credit card processor spun off by Citicorp and acquired in 1995 by First Data Corp.

He has also held senior-level positions with Veritas, a consulting and software firm for the financial services industry; MasterCard International; Automatic Data Processing Inc.; and Citicorp.

Mr. Elliott offers Hypercom, one of the top two providers of point of sale automation systems, "a wealth of top-level experience and industry contacts in strategic product planning, payment processing, communications networking, financial services, and information systems development, both domestic and international," said Hypercom chairman George Wallner.
