Bankers Trust Hires Risk Strategist, Tech Manager

Bankers Trust New York Corp. hired Elizabeth Ruml to be senior risk strategist, a newly created post.

She heads a team that focuses on the relationships among credit, market, legal, operational, and reputational risks.

Ms. Ruml is also on Bankers Trust's asset liability and management control committees; she will help design and impose policies, procedures, and incentive structures to strengthen risk management.

Ms. Ruml initially joined Bankers Trust in 1978 but left the company in 1993 for Salomon Brothers Inc., where she spent the last five years as a managing director and chief credit officer.

Bankers Trust also hired Carol Coye Benson to be a managing director and head of a newly created information-delivery product group for its global institutional services. The group will apply new technologies to serve clients in asset management, cash and trade, and corporate trust and agency services businesses.

Ms. Benson had been Visa International's director of product development for Europe, based in Paris.
