In Brief: Intuit Upgrading QuickenMortgage Site

Intuit Inc. is planning to unveil an enhanced version of its QuickenMortgage Web site at the end of the month.

The new version of the site will feature an on-line mortgage application, five additional lenders, and access to over 500,000 home listings across the country.

QuickenMortgage debuted in October with six of the industry's largest lenders-Chase Manhattan Mortgage, Countrywide Credit Industries, HomeSide Inc., North American Mortgage, PNC Mortgage, and Principal Residential Mortgage.

The five new lenders are Allied Mortgage Capital Corp., American Finance and Investment Inc., LoanWorks, LaSalle Home Mortgage Corp., and Wells Resource Real Estate Services, a joint venture of Wells Fargo Bank and Cendant Mortgage Corporation.

The new QuickenMortgage will allow consumers to search through thousands of loans, pre-qualify themselves on-line for free, and submit an on-line mortgage application.

QuickenMortgage will also have a link to CyberHomes, a property listing Web site run by Moore Data Management Services.

Consumers will be able to link to the CyberHomes Web site from the QuickenMortgage site or Intuit's Quicken personal finance Web site. Quicken is the most popular brand of personal finance software. Consumers will also be able to link to the QuickenMortgage site from the CyberHomes site.

The enhanced Quicken Mortgage site is scheduled to be available on March 31.
