In Brief: PNC Loses Top Capital Markets Executive

Joel Calvo, the head of PNC Bank Corp.'s capital markets unit, has left the company. Mr. Calvo, who was president and chief executive of PNC Brokerage Corp. before moving to the capital markets area in early December, left at the end of February.

He departed because his wife had landed a job in California and the couple was eager to get back to that part of the country, said Michael Mortensen, who succeeded Mr. Calvo as president and chief executive of PNC Brokerage Corp.

Mr. Calvo had previously held a senior vice presidency at BankAmerica Corp., in San Francisco. He is now living in Glendale, Calif., and looking for a job, PNC employees said.

Mr. Calvo, who could not be reached for comment, led PNC Brokerage Corp. from October 1995 until joining the institutional trust area in December.
