Card Briefs: Fiserv Unit and Paysys Agree to Cross-Market

Fiserv Orlando, a data processing arm of Fiserv Inc., has announced a strategic relationship with one of its software suppliers, Paysys International Inc.

The organizations, both based in Orlando, said they will market each other's revolving, credit-related services to the retailing industry and participate jointly in trade shows, conferences, advertising, and direct mailing efforts.

The alliance offers a strategic channel that provides business opportunities, according to Harry Shuman, president of Fiserv Orlando, which was known as FIS Inc. before its acquisition by Brookfield, Wis.- based Fiserv Inc. last September.

Among Fiserv Orlando's clients are Chase Manhattan Bank, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, and Green Tree Financial Corp. Its Private Label Universal Services, or PLUS, system, is based on Paysys' VisionPlus software.

Steve Grubb, president and chief executive officer of Paysys, called the formal alliance a "logical next step." He spoke of additional flexibility for customers: "Retailers wanting to do their own processing can license our latest software system, VisionPlus. For those wanting to outsource their portfolios, we can recommend Fiserv."
