NationsBank Corp. has promoted David Adams, the executive in charge of its Florida public finance business, to senior vice president and is transferring him to Tampa.

Mr. Adams, a vice president since 1989, had been working for several years in the Charlotte, N.C., headquarters to establish a public finance portfolio in Florida.

In addition, NationsBank named eight associates for its public finance and municipal sales teams.

Paul Towell was named a senior vice president for health care in Washington. He is making a lateral move into public finance from managing a team for NationsBank's Mid-Atlantic health-care banking group.

Arlan Dohrmann, Mary Rollins, and Charles Devers were hired at NationsBank's St. Louis public finance group.

Mr. Dohrmann is a senior vice president and health-care specialist. He was a managing director at Kirkpatrick Pettis, a regional public finance firm.

Ms. Rollins, also from Kirkpatrick Pettis, was named assistant vice president in St. Louis.

Mr. Devers, who is a vice president, has managed public finance for 20 years. He joined NationsBank from Lang, Devers & Associates; earlier he worked for Dain Bosworth Inc., Stephens Inc., and A.G. Edwards.

In Houston, Lance Johnson, who came from Charles Schwab & Co., was hired as a vice president. He has 10 years of experience in investment banking, fixed-income securities, and financial services.

Lastly, Leslie Dwyer, Richard Reid, and Jeff Spray were hired to work in public finance in Charlotte.

Ms. Dwyer is an assistant vice president responsible for providing and presenting analytical and disclosure documentation. She held similar responsibilities at Evensen Dodge, a municipal finance advisory firm.

Mr. Spray and Mr. Reid are sales specialists focused on insurance companies and money managers. Mr. Spray started his fixed-income career in 1989, when he opened a Tampa regional office for NCNB Corp., NationsBank's predecessor. Mr. Reid was at Craigie Inc., a Richmond, Va.-based investment banking firm that BB&T Corp. bought last October.
