Bank of America Hires Three from Warburg Dillon In Health Care

Banc of America Securities LLC has expanded its health-care corporate and investment banking group by hiring three Warburg Dillon Read LLC experts.

The three, who are also Kidder, Peabody & Co. veterans, will be managing directors of the group, whose director is Brian Brille.

They will be based in New York. Banc of America Securities, the investment banking and brokerage division of Bank of America Corp., is based in San Francisco.

Paul Donofrio will focus on the pharmaceutical industry, as he did as a managing director in Warburg Dillon Read's health-care group.

David Gottlieb, who was also a managing director at Warburg Dillon Read, will continue to specialize in medical-devices investment banking.

Jerry Treppel will be the Bank of America unit's senior equity research analyst for the pharmaceutical industry, continuing his focus from Warburg. Mr. Treppel was the executive director of Warburg Dillon Read's health-care research group. Before that he was a senior vice president at Kidder Peabody.

He reports to Thomas A. Thornhill 3d, director of equity research at Banc of America Securities.

Also reporting to Mr. Thornhill will be Richard L. Whittington, newly hired as a managing director and senior semiconductor analyst.

Mr. Whittington, who will be based in San Francisco, was general partner of Whittington Management, a technology hedge fund in San Francisco. From 1993 to 1996 he was a partner and senior semiconductor analyst for SoundView Technology Group of Stamford, Conn. Earlier he was a Gruntal & Co. senior analyst for semiconductor companies and held similar jobs at Kidder Peabody and at Prudential Securities.
