In Brief: LendingTree Network Says Demand Soared

LendingTree Inc., which runs a network of lenders who bid on loans, said this week that its loan demand has quadrupled over the past six months, to $65 million a day in June.

LendingTree on Tuesday estimated demand for June at $1.9 billion.

Its network of 61 lenders includes Citibank and Chase Manhattan Bank.

The company also announced that it is launching a loan center, in partnership with InsWeb, to offer homeowners free insurance quotes.
