No year-2000-related glitches were found in a recent test of financial data transfers among a group of financial services companies and phone carriers.
Tests of credit card authorizations and settlements worked fine, the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions announced Wednesday.
The tests were conducted in April by a consortium organized by the alliance that included Bell Atlantic, MCI Worldcom, and SBC Communications.
The financial services providers involved were American Express Co., Bank of America Corp., First Data Corp., MasterCard International, MBNA America Bank, Visa International, and Wells Fargo Bank.
