Sanwa Bank Names Executives

Sanwa Bank California in Los Angeles has hired Steven M. Takei to be senior vice president and regional manager of its restructured commercial banking division.

In the newly created post, Mr. Takei is to oversee Sanwa's commercial branches and business banking centers in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and San Bernardino counties.

He came from Wachovia Bank in Atlanta where he was a senior vice president managing banking relationships with corporations in Southern California, Texas, and Louisiana.

Earlier in his banking career, he worked at First Interstate Bank in Arizona, Bank of America, Security Pacific Bank, and First Chicago Corp.

Mr. Takei will report to Jeffrey P. Andersen, who was hired this year after the $8.6 billion-asset banking company announced it was reorganizing its commercial banking business.

Mr. Anderson, who came from Pacific Century Financial Corp.'s Phoenix, Ariz., division, oversees middle-market and specialized products divisions; he reports to Larry D. Layne, vice chairman and head of Sanwa's commercial banking unit.

Sanwa Bank California is a subsidiary of $406 billion-asset Sanwa Bank Ltd. of Osaka, Japan.
