Industries' electronic commerce efforts for the past five years, has joined E-Loan Inc. as senior vice president of technology integration.

E-Loan said Monday that Mr. King, 43, will start this week and report to chief executive officer Chris Larsen and president Janina Pawlowski.

Countrywide does not plan to name a successor to Mr. King, said David Espenschied, senior vice president of Internet marketing. He noted that Mr. King's electronic commerce division had recently been merged with the telemarketing group.

"He has in place behind him a strong team, and we are very well-positioned going forward," Mr. Espenschied said.

Mr. King joined Countrywide in 1987 as executive director of information services and was promoted in 1991 to senior executive director. Before working for Countrywide he was a technology manager for Peat Marwick, where he specialized in automating the loan origination process for financial institutions. -- Hala Habal
