A unit of Fleet Boston Financial Corp. is among the lenders that would offer financing for big-ticket purchases over the Internet via a facility that is being launched today by eCredit.com.
Fleet joins Associates Commerce Solutions, a subsidiary of Associates First Capital Corp., and Bingham Financial Services, a financing company specializing in manufactured homes, on eCredit.com's Global Financing Network.
The service is designed to attract consumers or businesses making on-line purchases that are too large to finance with a credit card -- say expensive jewelry or large numbers of office computers. The service processes credit information and connects applicants to participating financing companies for approval.
The network uses credit information from Dun & Bradstreet Corp., Experian Inc., Transunion LLC, Equifax Inc., NACM Tampa, and Veritas Business Information. -- Ross Snel
