In Brief: Purchasing System Provider Picks President

Michael Nash, a former American Express Co. and Visa International executive who stepped down as chief executive officer of Digicash Inc. last year, has been named president of Trivnet Inc. The two- year-old Silicon Valley company specializes in on-line purchasing and shopping management systems. Mr. Nash said he evaluated competing purchasing systems and deemed Trivnet's "the most comprehensive offering on the market."

He reports to chairman and CEO Amir Galili.

Mr. Nash left Digicash last summer and was succeeded by Scott Loftesness, also formerly of Visa. The pioneering developer of electronic cash for the Internet filed for bankruptcy protection in the fall.
