Robert Walsh Named CEO, President of Synovus Unit

Cohutta Banking Co. of Chatsworth, Ga., has named Robert K. Walsh Jr. to be president and chief executive officer.

He succeeds Edward E. Lewandowski, who retired Wednesday from the $133 million-asset banking company. Mr. Lewandowski had been president and CEO of Cohutta-a subsidiary of Synovus Financial Corp., Columbus, Ga.-since 1981, and he has 30 years' banking experience.

Mr. Walsh was group vice president in the retail banking division of Athens (Ga.) First Bank and Trust, another Synovus subsidiary. He joined Athens First in 1993 as a vice president and commercial lending officer.

Earlier, Mr. Walsh worked for BankAmerica Corp. predecessors, including NCNB Services, NationsBank Credit, and NationsBank of South Carolina.
