In Brief: Texas School Offers Course for Bank CEOs

A Texas university is launching a graduate course for senior community banking executives.

The two-week program offered by Sam Houston State University in Huntsville is designed to teach chief executive officers and other bank leaders how to manage risk, improve customer service and marketing, and invest in technology.

Professor Jim Bexley said the program "is for a CEO who maybe hasn't had a chance to develop his banking skills because he was thrown into the job at a young age."

Participants will meet for a week beginning May 30 and a second week during the spring of 2000.
