Tech Bytes: Intelligroup to Run India Training System

Intelligroup Inc. said it has signed a contract to manage the implementation of a major Internet-based training system for India's banking and financial services community.

The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology in Hyderabad contracted with Intelligroup's Asian subsidiary for an information systems infrastructure based on the SAP/R3 enterprise resource planning technology.

The project, called HyperIDRBT, "is a significant step forward" for the institute, said its director, V.P. Gulati.

"Intelligroup offered the right combination of management consulting, ERP, and Internet skills to support the rapid implementation of our information systems," he said. "In addition, we have a strong focus on outsourcing many of the operational services of the institute, and Intelligroup's ability to provide full life-cycle services beyond implementation was an important aspect of our decision."

Intelligroup will develop a system that integrates financial, administrative, human resources, and library management functions. It will also create and implement a full Internet strategy, including design of a Web site, development of Web-based education applications, and complete integration of internal business systems with Internet and intranet applications.
