In Brief: MBNA Executives Unharmed in Crash

A helicopter carrying MBNA Corp.'s chief executive, Bruce Hammonds, and five other employees crashed Friday in New York's East River.

All six passengers and both pilots were rescued. The only person seriously injured was one of the pilots.

Jim Donahue, a spokesman for MBNA, said Friday that Mr. Hammonds and the other employees had been treated at Bellevue Hospital and were on their way home.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the helicopter was on its way to Wilmington, Del., where MBNA is based.

Besides Mr. Hammonds, 57, the employees aboard were Lance Weaver and Richard Struthers, both vice chairmen; Douglas Denton, the chief technology officer; Frank Bramble, a senior adviser to Mr. Hammonds; and Thomas Wren, the treasurer.

Mr. Weaver said Saturday that the executives were healthy and resuming normal duties. He said MBNA had no plans to change its aviation policy.

Corporate Aviation LLC of Wilmington owned the helicopter, which MBNA operated, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
