Several Execs Exiting Barclays

Barclays PLC said Wednesday that several top executives from its U.S. credit card business were leaving the British banking company to pursue "fresh opportunities."

Lloyd M. Wirshba will succeed Richard Vague as the chief executive of Barclaycard US next month. Mr. Vague founded Juniper Financial Corp., which was bought by Barclays in 2004 and given the Barclaycard handle last year.

Mr. Wirshba is joining the unit from the outsourcer ICT Group Inc., where he was the chief marketing and administrative officer. He has also worked for American Express Co. and Time Warner Inc.'s America Online.

Charles Moore will take over Ben Brake's former duties as managing director of marketing and segment management today. He joined Barclaycard US from Toyota Financial Corp. Antony Jenkins will become the unit's president, succeeding James Stewart, and will remain its chairman.

"This is part of the evolution of our U.S. business into a successful profit-making organization," Mr. Jenkins said in a press release.
