UMB Financial Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., said it has signed a definitive agreement to buy Prairie Capital Management LLC, an independent national asset management and wealth management firm in Kansas City.
The price of the deal, which is expected to close on July 30, was not disclosed.
Prairie would operate as an independent division of UMB.
The agreement was announced Wednesday.
The top five banks and thrifts had combined assets of more than $13 trillion as of December 31, 2023.

The two regional banks are anticipating that borrower demand will increase in the back half of the year. High interest rates and economic uncertainty have been muting the appetite for borrowing.
