Citi Hires Former Bush Aide Wolff as Chief Lobbyist

Citigroup Inc. has hired Candida "Candi" Wolff, who served as President George W. Bush's chief congressional lobbyist, as the company's executive vice president for global government affairs.

Wolff, currently a partner in the legislative and policy practice at law firm Hogan Lovells, will oversee Citi's relationships with all levels of government in the 100-plus countries where Citi operates. She is scheduled to start May 2 and will report to Edward Skyler, Citi's executive vice president for public affairs.

Citi's former head of global government relations, Nicholas Calio, resigned late last year to run the Air Transport Association.

"From the White House to Capitol Hill, Candi Wolff has developed a record as a superb advocate who acts with integrity and offers sound counsel," Citi Chief Executive Vikram Pandit said in a press release.

From 2005 to 2007, Wolff served in the White House as Bush's assistant on legislative affairs, responsible for furthering the administration's agenda in Congress and advising on legislative strategy. She previously spent eight years in Senate staff roles, including deputy staff director to the Senate Republican Policy Committee and counsel to the Senate Steering Committee.
