Opus Bank in California Promotes Simmons to COO

Opus Bank in Irvine, Calif., has promoted Jennifer Simmons to chief operating officer and appointed her to the executive committee.

Simmons replaces Romolo Santarosa, who resigned from the $6.2 billion-asset bank in June. His responsibilities were divided among three executives until Simmons' promotion: co-president Michael Allison; Don Royer, general counsel; and Nicole Carrillo, chief financial officer.

Simmons has been senior vice president for the bank's strategies and growth division since she joined Opus in April 2014. Before that she was business manager of Union Bank's business banking group and previously served in senior leadership roles at Wachovia and Wells Fargo.

Additionally, Opus expanded the responsibilities of Phil Petrozzi, senior managing director of fiduciary banking. He will now run the banking operations and commercial depository services divisions, in addition to fiduciary banking, which he opened in 2012 when he joined the company.

Petrozzi was previously regional sales manager at City National Bank, where he led the specialty deposits unit. He has also previously worked in the financial services divisions of Mercantile National Bank, Imperial Bank, Metro Bank and Commercial Center Bank.
