U.S. Bancorp Appoints Head of In-Store Banking

U.S. Bancorp in Minneapolis has appointed Amy Hurd as head of its in-store and on-site banking division.

In her new role, Hurd will oversee the $403 billion-asset company's network of branches located inside retail centers, such as grocery stores and airports.

Hurd has held several senior-level positions within the company's in-store division, most recently serving as a regional manager. She began her career as a part-time teller at the $3 billion-asset Great Financial in Louisville, Ky., which U.S. Bancorp bought in 1998.

She succeeds Chuck Stroup, who plans to retire this spring, after a 28-year career with the company.

"In-store and on-site banking is an important part of U.S. Bank's branch strategy, which is popular with customers because it brings banking to them whether at work, while grocery shopping or at school," John Elmore, vice chairman for consumer banking and branch delivery, said in a press release Wednesday.

U.S. Bancorp has 873 in-store and on-site branches, according to the release.

Hurd is one of the women who helped U.S. Bank win a top team award as part of American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Banking program in 2012. She also was on U.S. Bank’s winning team in 2009.
