Lawrence Gross Jr. Taking Over as FDIC CIO

WASHINGTON – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has a new chief information officer.

Lawrence Gross Jr. is joining the FDIC from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was CIO of the Farm Service Agency after serving as the deputy CIO for the Interior Department and associate CIO at the Treasury Department.

“Mr. Gross was responsible for providing executive leadership and policy direction to ensure the effective management and oversight of significant information technology portfolios,” the FDIC said in a statement, noting that he has more than 25 years of experience in technology-related roles.

Gross will be taking over for Martin Henning, who has been the acting CIO since the previous person in that role, Barry West, left in June after being put on administrative leave.

The FDIC said Gross will provide strategic advice on “information technology, including governance, investment, program management, strategic planning, and security” issues.

Gross has a bachelor’s of science in information systems from the University of Maryland, University College and holds a CIO certification from the National Defense University.
