Oklahoma bank's plan to differentiate? A unique name

Central National Bank & Trust in Enid, Okla., has a new name.

The $650 million-asset asset bank has rebranded as Stride Bank. It had operated as Central National since its formation in 1913.

The rationale was simple: to differentiate from the plethora of banks that use the words "central" or "national" in their names.

Nearly 860 banks use the word "national," while 65 names include "central," according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Only eight bank names include both words.

"Our industry is changing rapidly," Brud Baker, Stride's chairman, said in a Monday release announcing the change. "Determining how we continue to grow and thrive in the future starts with how we position ourselves today.”
