Caryl Athanasiu

Caryl Athanasiu is Executive Vice President and Chief Operational Risk Officer of Wells Fargo & Company, providing enterprise leadership and oversight for operational risks, including regulatory compliance and financial crimes. Athanasiu also chairs the company's Enterprise Risk Management Committee, comprised of senior business heads accountable for identifying, evaluating, and ensuring remediation of the most significant existing and emerging risks for the enterprise.

A 25-year veteran of the company, Athanasiu most recently served as the chief risk officer of Wholesale Banking. She previously managed Strategic Planning, focusing on enterprise-wide customer experience improvements, and served as finance officer to the COO.

Athanasiu’s Wells Fargo career has also included a variety of senior management positions in Wholesale Banking, where she led the treasury management integration following the Wells Fargo/Norwest merger and served as Division Manager for Corporate Banking in the Western States.

She has a Masters in Management from Stanford University (Sloan Fellow) and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Northwestern University with a B.A. in Humanities.

Athanasiu serves on the Board of Directors of the ORX Association and the Redwood City Education Foundation. She is a member of the RMA Regulatory Council, the RMA Operational Risk Council, the Office of Financial Research’s Financial Research Advisory Committee, and the International Women’s Forum. In 2012, she was ranked #9 by American Banker on their “25 Women to Watch”, part of their annual selection of the Most Powerful Women in Banking. In 2011, she was named one of the Bay Area's “150 Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business” by the San Francisco Business Times. Caryl has also been recognized for her contributions to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

Teresa has spent over eighteen years in the financial services industry, as both a consultant and senior manager at major financial services institutions. Playing leadership roles at FleetBoston and Fidelity Investments, she managed successful efforts in strategy development, large-scale business process and systems reengineering, sales and service management, and customer experience management.  Her experience spans retail business lines, including lending, credit and debit card, and brokerage/retirement.

In addition to her industry experience, Teresa co-founded Mercatus, a boutique retail financial services strategy consulting firm focused on developing revenue growth and new product innovation strategies.  Prior consulting experience included Gemini Consulting and Mainspring/IBM.  Since 2008, Teresa has led the Mobile Financial Services Tracking Study and has helped numerous clients harness mobile innovation for growth and efficiency

Sue Evans

Sue Evans, 55, is the Chief Operating Officer of MidWestOne Bank with headquarters in Iowa City, IA.  Ms. Evans joined the Company in 2001 as Senior Vice President – Retail Banking and was appointed to her current role as Chief Operating Officer in August 2009.  She has more than thirty five years of banking experience, previously serving as Indianola Market President of Brenton Bank, Des Moines, as well as Retail Market and Sales Manager for U.S. Bank, Des Moines.  Ms. Evans currently serves on the United Way of Johnson County Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois, the Board of Directors for SHAZAM, Inc., the Board of Directors for the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and is an Ambassador for the “Go Red for Women” Campaign for the American Heart Association in Johnson County.  She also serves as trustee of the Graduate School of Banking Colorado, representing the State of Iowa on this board, and served as the chairperson in 2011.  In March 2011, Sue was one of nine women honored as the 2011 Women of Influence by the Corridor Business Journal.  In October 2012, Sue was named to “The 25 Women to Watch” list by the American Banker magazine’s annual Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking rankings.

As Umpqua Bank’s Executive Vice President of Creative Strategies, Lani Hayward has been instrumental in creating and marketing the Umpqua brand and customer experience.  She has positioned the bank nationally and internationally as a model of change in the financial industry, focusing on customer experience innovation and game-changing channel delivery.

Hayward is driven by the belief that a brand is only as authentic as the culture of the company it represents. As a result, she has focused Umpqua’s marketing efforts on exploring unconventional strategies that extend the company’s culture beyond its walls.

Hayward leads a team dedicated to creating and delivering new concepts, from store design to interactive experiences to what Umpqua has dubbed “handshake marketing.”  Her work has been recognized locally and nationally, including being named the Advertising Professional of the Year by the Portland Advertising Federation and one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking by US Banker Magazine.

Liz Laderman

Liz Laderman is an economist in the Financial Research section of the Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.  She has a B.A. in mathematics from Grinnell College and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.  Her research interests include bank market structure, household and small business finance, and financial market issues related to low-income communities.  She has written numerous research articles on banking and financial issues for Federal Reserve publications and academic journals.  She also does the antitrust analysis for bank merger applications submitted to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Suzanne earned a Baccalaureate in Nursing and has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 23 years.  The past 10 years, working in the field of Occupational Health & Employee Wellness, promoting a healthy workforce as the best investment in a high performance culture.  Her role is managing employee absence benefits, negotiating with employees and managers a successful and healthy return to work under FMLA and ADAA law requirements.

Suzanne promotes health and wellbeing in a GSK culture of energizing the whole person through Energy, Resilience and Wellbeing. She is a facilitator of a GSK employee workshop, Energy for Performance and also a Certified Health Coach, CHC. She enjoys consulting with managers and teams to create the best culture for individuals to be successful in wellness.

While being active on the Philadelphia Board of Occupational Health Nurses as Secretary, she shares her enthusiasm of living a healthy lifestyle with her husband and three children.  Suzanne enjoys the outdoors, and loves the endless possibilities of the motto “You can do it!’....just believe.
Erin Selleck

Erin Selleck is Senior Executive Vice President and Treasurer for UnionBanCal Corporation and its primary subsidiary, Union Bank, N.A.  Ms. Selleck is responsible for managing all corporate treasury functions for the bank, including interest rate risk and liquidity risk management, funding, balance sheet management and the bank’s investment security portfolio.  She also oversees the bank’s relationship with rating agencies and investors.  Ms. Selleck was promoted to Senior Executive Vice President in 2012.

In addition to her responsibilities as Treasurer, Ms. Selleck serves as a member of the bank’s executive committee, which functions as Union Bank’s primary policy-making body.  She has also been a leader in diversity and inclusion for Union Bank.  She served as a founding member of the bank’s Leadership Council for Inclusion in 2007-2008 and is a leader of the Union Bank Women’s Leadership Group.  

Ms. Selleck joined Union Bank in 2002 as senior vice president and Director of Corporate Treasury Risk Management, was named Treasurer in 2005 and promoted to executive vice president in 2008.  She began her career in the financial services industry in 1984 at Bank of America in San Francisco.  She acted as vice president and manager in Corporate Treasury and held various roles within that division with increasing responsibility.

Active in her community, Ms. Selleck serves on the board of Heal the Bay, an environmental non-profit based in Santa Monica.  She also is on the board of the Organization of Women Executives and the National Association of Corporate Treasurers.  In 2008, she received the Medal of Excellence from Women at Work, a Los Angeles non-profit job resource center that recognizes distinguished career women.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from University of California at Berkeley.

Jane is recognized as a leader in mass-market financial services.  She founded Walmart Financial Services and led the group from 2002 to 2011 to become the largest business in America serving underserved financial service consumers.  In this role, she brought innovation to financial services through products (including prepaid, credit and gift cards), formats, self-service, merchandising and marketing.  American Banker recognized Jane as Innovator of the Year in 2011 and as one of the Top 25 Women in Finance.

Prior to Walmart, Jane's career included Procter & Gamble, Sears Roebuck & Co. (including EVP of Sears Credit and Chairman of Sears National Bank), and management consulting with McKinsey & Company, Inc.

She has also been very active throughout her career in supporting women’s initiatives, including networking and mentoring for success.  She currently serves on corporate boards and advisor boards in financial services and retail.

Jane recently founded Jane J. Thompson Financial Services LLC to support businesses, large institutions as well as rapid-growth and start-up ventures, focused on the financial services needs of underserved and mass-market consumers.

Previous Experience
Before joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Pam spent nine years at Visa Inc. in digital payments leadership positions including Global Head of Innovation and Global Head of Mobile, where she worked to tie global mobile operators, emerging payment providers and digital media platforms to Visa's global payments network. Prior to joining Visa Inc., Pam was a consultant for Marakon Associates, a global strategy consulting firm, where she worked with Fortune 100 companies to drive growth strategies in dynamic markets.

Pam received her M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and B.S. in economics from Miami University.
