Melbourne, Fla.-based Space Coast CU opened a new branch in Homestead that expands SCCU’s reach in South Florida. The new facility features four drive-thru lanes, a drive-thru ATM and safe deposit boxes.

Tech CU honored

Technology CU, San Jose, Calif., won two CUNA Diamond Awards in the categories of commercial video and radio ads. Separately, Tech CU won its first Communitas award for its efforts in community service and corporate social responsibility, and it was named the No. 3 best-performing credit union among 538 CUs in the U.S. by S&P Global Market Intelligence.

SECU-Maryland sponsors soccer

SECU-Maryland, Linthicum, Md., donated nearly $11,000 to University of Maryland Children’s Hospital through its Goals for Kids program. SECU and the Baltimore Blast launched Goals for Kids late last year to celebrate SECU’s sponsorship of the Major Arena Soccer League champion Blast, which moved its home games to SECU Arena on the Towson University campus.

CU in the Caribbean

NuMark CU, Joliet, Ill., said Lizell Myers was the winner of a week-long Caribbean Cruise the CU gave away during its “Drive In Sail Away” campaign. Over the course of six weeks, NuMark members who booked an auto loan chose from a suitcase of envelopes. In total, 30 members selected “Cruise Finalist” envelopes and were entered into the Cruise drawing.

Grand opening

Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway FCU celebrated the grand opening of its newly relocated branch on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. Chartway is the first CU in Hampton Roads to deploy NCR 80 series interactive teller technology, which received a demo from Triton, one of the mascots for the Norfolk Tides.

Employees of GCS Credit Union, Granite City, Ill., joined together to raise $1,060 in one month to benefit Refuge4Kids. This nonprofit organization believes the love and support of just one adult can counteract the effect of violence in a child’s life.

Teens recognized for community service

Merck Sharp & Dohme FCU, Chalfont, Pa., presented Raymond O. Hoffman Memorial Awards to five high school seniors. Recipients were awarded $5,000 each and were recognized at the CU’s annual meeting. Combined, the students gave 3,700 hours to community service efforts.
