13 Georgia Lawmakers Call For Hearing On Curia Bill

WASHINGTON - A bipartisan group of 13 House members from Georgia called on leaders of the Financial Services Committee last week to hold a hearing on the CU Regulatory Improvements Act, better known as CURIA.

The call, in a letter to the Democratic Chairman of the Committee, Barney Frank of Massachusetts, and the ranking Republican, Spencer Bachus of Alabama, is the latest sign of growing momentum for the bill, coming a few weeks after a similar letter from members of the Texas delegation. By the end of last week, the bill had attracted 135 sponsors from the House.

Frank told CU executives last month he plans to have a hearing on the bill, but doubts the bill will be passed as it is.
