NCUA approved another 17 conversions to community charter in September, the most ever approved in a single month. That makes a total of 99 conversions to community FOM so far this year, with three months to go sure to top the previous high of 105 conversions set last year.
The biggest conversions approved in September were: Bethpage FCU, Bethpage, N.Y., to serve almost all three-million residents of Long Island; ABNB FCU, Virginia Beach, Va., to serve 1.1-million people in the Virginia Beach area; Columbus Metro FCU, Columbus, Ohio, to serve one-million residents in Franklin County, Ohio; and Heartland FCU, Dayton, Ohio, to serve the one-million people living in the Dayton-Springfield area.
