1st 'Learning Experience' Held For Ga.'s Small CUs

Twenty-three representatives from 21 small credit unions in this state gathered here for the first ever Small Credit Union Learning Experience in Georgia.

Sponsored by the Georgia Credit Union League, Georgia Central Credit Union, Cooperative Services, Inc. and the Georgia Credit Union Foundation, the meeting was aimed at credit unions of less than $35 million and focused on growth and success.

Among those making presentations were Eric Jenkins, CEO of Palmetto Health Services CU, Polly Bell, CEO of MEA FCU, Lisa Thurmond, CEO of GA Power Northeast CU, Edgar Lester, a volunteer with MEA FCU, and Brian Akin, CEO of North Georgia CU.

In addition to key networking opportunities, the Learning Experience included two credit union tours designed to enable attendees to observe success strategies in action and to meet the key people at each credit union who are responsible for the implementation of those particular strategies.

Plans are underway second conference in April of 2006.
