That's a sharp increase from the 7% of credit unions attacked during April, according to the RSA Monthly Online Fraud Report. The credit union numbers run counter to the decrease in attacks on banks over the same period, which declined by 20%.

Among the findings released by RSA:

* Phishing volume increased 7%, primarily as a result of highly targeted phishing campaigns launched against small financial institutions.

* Year-over-year, phishing volume is up 164% due to technical advancements in site-hijacking methods and FaaS (functionality as a service) offerings. FaaS is a software development model in which one or more functionalities of the software are hosted centrally-typically in the cloud.
