FORT WAYNE, Ind. – 3Rivers FCU broke ground on its headquarters Wednesday, part of a $15-million project.
The new headquarters and the renovation of its current corporate office on the site will provide space for 3Rivers to more than double its staff to 153 employees.
The project will include green building elements to match the LEED Silver Certification Level, with window and roof systems that provide lots of natural lighting and energy-efficient electrical and mechanical systems. The credit union said it will get a campus feel from open space, casual outdoor seating areas and a walking trail.
The $600-million credit union was founded in 1935 to serve employees of the former International Harvester company.
In April it will move to a free-standing location with an ATM and drive-up service at the Shoppes of Scott Road. In its third quarter it will relocate branches in Auburn and Bluffton. Its fourth quarter will see the start of its new downtown office at Harrison Square along with a new full-service location on St. Joe Center Road in front of the new YMCA.
