8,000-Plus In Credit Union Mini-Marathon

More than 8,000 runners, of which at least 3,600 were credit union members, participated in the 32nd annual running of the CU Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run.

The race included a "race within a race" for members of Congress and their staff members. The "Capitol Hill Competition" (jointly sponsored by CUNA and NAFCU) drew more than 500 Capitol Hill runners.

The race raised more than $325,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. "All in all it is a lot of fun: Much-needed funds are raised for children's hospitals; credit union people enjoy a day out together-and we all get a chance to spend some close, personal time with members of Congress and their staffs," said CUNA President Dan Mica.
