AUSTIN, Texas – A+ FCU, which has launched a variety of school-related savings contests, has teamed with Austin Community College’s Student Life office for what the credit union says is the first community college savings challenge.
The $1-billion credit union has selected 10 community college students to participate in its Riverbat Savings Challenge from October through next March. The students will compete for cash prizes up to $2,500.
Contestants will attend workshops and coffee chats, meet with certified A+ FCU financial guides, and contribute to a Riverbat Savings Challenge blog while they work toward their financial goals.
At the end of the contest, judges from the credit union will select the winners.
This is the fifth savings challenge developed and run by A+, originally chartered as a credit union for Austin teachers. The previous challenges were among Austin area families and two local high schools.
