The groundbreaking comes as the former Pinellas County Teachers credit union is poised to hit the $1-billion mark any day. The 75-year-old credit union, which recently adopted the brand, “Banking for Good,” will open its first branch in Hillsborough County later this year.

The new corporate office will be built in three phases, and should be completed by 2013.

Achieva sold its previous 26,450-square-foot corporate headquarters, on Gulf to Bay Boulevard in Clearwater, for $2.8 million.
