Advantage One FCU Opts for State Charter

Advantage One Federal Credit Union, based in Brownstown, Mich., received permission from the NCUA and the State of Michigan to convert from a federal charter to a state charter. The transition, which includes a name change to Advantage Credit Union, gives the $133 million institution the ability to serve additional communities.

"Advantage One is a very strong and well-capitalized credit union," CEO Chris Corkery said, "Because of our strength and strong loan growth over the years, we feel this is the best time to position ourselves for the future growth and provide the ability to serve more families, friends and neighbors in our communities," he added.

Currently, Advantage serves 15,000 members but hopes to increase that number through extending its reach to the Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenewee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne communities.
