Affinity Plus FCU Adds Round-Up Savings Account

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Affinity Plus FCU is now offering a new savings account that automatically rounds up to the nearest dollar every time members make a purchase or ATM transaction with their debit cards and transfers the difference into a savings account.

The account, called Stash Your Cash, is similar to one rolled out recently by nearby TopLine FCU. Every time a member makes a point of sale purchase, the dollar amount is rounded to the nearest whole dollar and the excess change is aggregated at the end of each business day and transferred to the share account of their choice. There’s no fee for this service, and once enrolled, members do not need to do anything further to begin saving money.

“We recognized in today’s economy it is often hard to find a little extra to save. This new program does the work for our members by letting them save through the spending they are already doing,” said Kyle Markland, president of the $1.3 billion credit union.
