TEMPE, Ariz. — Altier Credit Union on Thursday said David Skilton will serve as the credit union's new president.
Harry Mateer remains CEO of the $180 million credit union.
Skilton has spent the last seven years as Altier's senior vice president/chief financial officer. The CU said in a statement Skilton was responsible for a "long list of accomplishments" as CFO, led by the development and implementation of a net worth recovery strategy that helped Altier "successfully navigate the hardships of the Great Recession and maintain sound financial footing and performance."
Prior to his work with Altier, Skilton served as VP of finance and chief financial officer for Central Willamette Community Credit Union, and EVP of finance at Houston Energy CU. He started his credit union career in 1989 with the Texas Credit Union Department. During his 10 years with TCUD, he held the positions of examiner, problem case officer and field manager, before moving to Houston Energy CU.
Kathy Danielson, board chairperson for Altier, said, "David has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to the credit union industry and has contributed significantly to the credit union's current success. We have been fortunate to have him with us as CFO and have the utmost confidence that he will not only meet, but will also surpass our expectations as our new president."
According to Skilton, "Altier has become like a family to me so to be selected for this role by a group of people that I have grown to have so much respect and admiration for is truly an honor."
