FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines FCU said Angela Owens, its chief operating officer the last two years, has succeeded John Tippets as president and CEO of the $5 billion credit union.

Tippets retired June 30, after 42 years with AMR Corp., the corporate sponsor of the credit union, and the last 17 years with the credit union.
Owens, named heir apparent in 2006, has been with AMR since 1992, and worked as vice president of community relations for the credit union from 2002 to 2005. She also was responsible for the credit union's business development, credit education and member special assistance departments.
