FORT WORTH, Texas – John Tippets, president and CEO of American Airlines FCU, will retire from the $4.5 billion credit union at the end of the month.

Tippets worked for AMR, the corporate sponsor of the credit union, for 42 years, and the last 17 for the credit union. He will be succeeded by Angela Owens, who has been serving as chief operating officer for the past year.
Tippets will be honored June 21 at “Fun Takes Flight,” an aviation industry celebration, where he will sign copies of his recently completed book, “Hearts of Courage,” the miraculous story of his father’s 29-day survival in the Alaska wilderness after a plane crash in 1943.
