American Partners FCU Opens North Carolina’s First Student-Run CU

REIDSVILLE, N.C. – Reidsville High School yesterday opened the state's first student-run credit union, a branch of American Partners FCU.

Students can cash checks, make deposits or withdrawals at the "Ram Branch." Two student-tellers will handle all transactions.

The Ram Branch is open to students and faculty for two hours Monday through Friday. Credit union leaders say they may extend the hours or add more locations in the near future.

More credit unions are planning student-run credit unions. Allegacy FCU is scheduled to open a student-run branch at Ronald Reagan High School, in Pfafftown, N.C., on Monday, to be called Raider Student CU.
