WICHITA, Kan. Credit Union of America is using an untraditional video of dressed-up credit union employees and even a board member doing the latest Internet dance craze, the “Harlem Shake.”
Credit unions around the country are doing the Harlem Shake, an electronic song performed by a musician called Baauer. Best Advantage CU in Wisconsin has recorded a Harlem Shake video, as has Jeanne D’Arc CU in Lowell, Mass., and Texas Trust CU.
The promotional video at Credit Union of America, which can be viewed on YouTube, is aimed at the credit union’s younger members. It has more than 2,200 views so far, the credit union said.
Credit Union of America gave $10 iTunes cards to the video’s first 500 viewers. It said all cards were issued between the video’s launch on Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1.
Production costs were limited because the people shaking in costumes were Credit Union of America employees, along with board member Stan Wine. The video was filmed in a credit union lobby.
Cox Communications provided editing.
