DAYTON, Ohio – Police were hunting for two Illinois men they believe are behind a scheme that enlisted local college students to drain more than $70,000 from local ATMs, including about $45,000 from Wright-Patt CU.
Three suspects have been arrested in the scheme in which college students were being hired for the use of their accounts in which bogus checks were deposited and large sums were withdrawn before the checks were detected as phony.
As many as 10 suspects are being sought in connection with the scheme.
