Banker To Head Huge Pentagon FCU Foundation

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Pentagon FCU has hired Christopher Flynn, former president of Peterborough, N.H.’s Primary Bank, as president and CEO of its PenFed Foundation, one of the most active funders of military charities in the country.

The PenFed Foundation raises millions every year to finance services for wounded veterans and honors Medal of Honor Winners annually at its Military Heroes Gala. The foundation, which also operates the credit union giant’s payday loan program, is in the process of raising $12 million to build a hotel for wounded soldiers being treated at a Palo Alto, Calif., veterans hospital. The PenFed Foundation is the second-largest credit union charity, behind North Carolina SECU’s Foundation.

Flynn has worked in the financial sector for more than 35 years, including a stint as senior vice president at Shawmut Bank in Boston. He co-founded Monadnock Business Ventures, a nonprofit economic development corporation.
