GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. – Bellco CU, a $2 billion credit union chartered to serve the local telephone company, has applied to state regulators to expand to serve all 610,000 residents of Denver County.
The credit union giant already serves seven Colorado counties and eight cities, as well as hundreds of select groups, in the state’s unusual hybrid charter combining geographic and employee-based features.
The Colorado Financial Services Board has scheduled a public hearing on the application for April 8. The application could be approved without a hearing if no one objects to the expansion before then.
