BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Bethpage FCU, which has added 13 new branches over the past four years, is working to create a standardized branch to reflect the credit union’s slogan, “Banking among friends.”
The $3 billion credit union recently opened a 3,200-square-foot, freestanding branch in Massapequa, which stands out among the gas stations and restaurants that front Westfield's Massapequa Mall. The branch's exterior – brown, split-face concrete blocks along with copper and blue aluminum composite panels – provides a background for the credit union's familiar blue sign.
Bethpage, Long Island’s biggest credit union, recently opened branches in Freeport, Farmingdale and Mineola, and now operates 17 branches. It is planning two more, one each in Elmont and Central Islip.
Bethpage is working with local firm JRS Architect on the branch project.
The credit union, chartered to serve employees at Northrop Grumman aeronautics, is open to more than four million people who live on Long Island.
