Blaine To Debate Lawyer On Conversions

A debate over whether a credit union's membership benefits from a conversion to a mutual thrift charter has been scheduled for July 11 here before a meeting hosted by the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association (MACUMA).

Squaring off will be the well-known Jim Blaine, president of North Carolina State Employees CU in Raleigh, and Richard Garabedian, an attorney with Luse Gorman Pomerenk and Schick, PC. Garabedian has been involved in credit union conversions in the past.
