Bookkeeper Pleads Guilty to $419,000 CU Fraud

LONGVIEW, Texas – The former bookkeeper for a local company on Wednesday pleaded guilty to swindling almost $420,000 from Telco Plus CU.

Tina Potter Tachias, a bookkeeper for Made-Rite, prepared weekly paychecks from Made-Rite to Telco Plus, representing contributions to accounts of employees of Made-Rite at Telco. With the checks, she included instructions to apply to her account at the credit union funds she knew she was not entitled to and she had no authority to direct those funds to her account.

The government is seeking forfeiture of $419,000 in cash proceeds derived from the offense that continued for more than a year.

Sentencing has not been set.
