Branch Manager Gets Four Months Jail For $30,000 Theft

ROCKFORD, Ill. – A former branch manager at ABD FCU was sentenced last week to four months in prison and ordered to pay $31,532 in restitution and a $500 fine for stealing $29,815 from teller drawers.

James Welin, 61, who managed the credit unions; Belvidere branch, confessed to concealing the theft by forging members’ names on withdrawal slips.

Welin also admitted that he further attempted to conceal his embezzlement by marking some of the customers accounts "no mail" to prevent monthly statements from being mailed to those customers.
